Betty Jean Satchell passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at NorthCare Hospice in North K.C., MO. She was born in Sadorus, IL to John Raymond and Mary Lucy (Grigsby) Garrett. Betty was a graduate of University High School in Champagne, IL. She was of the Baptist Faith and worked during World War II building B-25 bomber aircraft in Fairfax, KS. Betty married Norman Eugene Satchell on February 8, 1941. Norman was a pilot, and together they enjoyed taking people on flights. She was a member of the OX-5 Aviation Club. Betty loved helping on the farm and being a mom and grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son in law Charles D. Sherman. Betty is survived by: her daughter Jean Sherman and her grandson Troy Sherman, and his partner Matthew B. Furr. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 16, at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston, MO; followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service. Interment will follow at the Platte City Cemetery, Platte City, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to NorthCare Hospice.
