ELIZABETH THERESA GOODSON
Elizabeth Theresa Goodson, 89 passed away April 3, 2016 at the Hardy Wilson Memorial Hospital in Hazelhurst, MS. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 7, 2016 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO. Interment will follow at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, Ft. Leavenworth, KS. The family suggests contributions be given to the St. Martin’s Catholic Church Building Fund—P.O. Box 167—Crystal Springs, MS 39059. Elizabeth was born October 29, 1926 in Klein Althammer, Germany to Gerhardt and Valerie (Komander) Kraft. She was a wartime bride, marrying a soldier, Jesse Donald Goodson on June 20, 1947 in Petersburg, VA. Being in a military family, Elizabeth lived in various places over the years, including: Ft. Lewis, Washington, Japan, Ft. Riley, KS, Ft. Bragg, NC, Oberndorf, Ansbach, and Stuttgart, Germany, Kansas City, MO, Platte City, MO, Clinton, MS, and finally Hazelhurst, MS. Elizabeth worked for the National Belles- Hess Company in North Kansas City, MO for fifteen years, where she worked her way up to the position of manager. Elizabeth enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, crochet, and knitting. She also loved to entertain her friends and family. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Don; a daughter Linda Ann Goodson; and a sister Rosemary Schaefer. Elizabeth is survived by: her daughter Donna (Ellis) Perkins of Hazelhurst, MS; her sisters Dorthea Schulze of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Margaret Hochsmann of Oberndorf, Germany; 3 grandchildren Lauren Chapman, and Lisa Augello, both of Covington, LA, and Sara Poolos of Arab, AL; and 1 great granddaughter Aryn Bunch of Baton Rouge, LA.
