Obituary for Kenneth F. Kisker Sr.

Kenneth F. Kisker, Sr. passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at the North Kansas City Hospital. A visitation will be held 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2014 at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston, MO. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 29, at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Farley, MO. Interment will follow at the Platte City Cemetery, Platte City, MO. The family suggests contributions be given to: St. John’s Lutheran Church—PO Box 117—Farley, MO 64028. Kenneth was born April 10, 1938 in Leavenworth, KS to Edward William and Bertha Emilla Marie (Lutte) Kisker. He was a 1956 graduate of West Platte High School, where he served as Senior Class President. Kenneth was a lifelong resident of Platte County, MO; and devoted member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Farley, where he served both as president and elder for 3 terms and as Sunday school teacher for 23 years. He married Sandra Kayren Pepper on June 4, 1960 in Farley. Kenneth retired as a Passenger Services Supervisor for Continental Airlines, after nearly 44 years of service. He was also a farmer, working part time in the early ‘60s for Sur-Gro, and was owner of the Weston Burley House. Kenneth actively served his community as a 15 year member of the Walther League, 5 yr. member of Mix & Mingle, President of Farley PTC, President of West Platte Band Parents, V.P. of MO Burley Council, MO Representative for The Council for Burley Tobacco in KY, recipient of the Raymond Dydell Award from Weston Jaycees, as well as a member of West Platte PTA, West Platte Booster Club, Farm Bureau, Weston Lion’s Club, and Weston Historical Museum. Kenneth was a Board of Directors member of The Farmer’s Mutual Insurance Co. since the ‘80s, was currently serving as President. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Edward Kisker. Kenneth is survived by: his wife Sandy; his sons Kenneth F. Kisker, Jr., and Kurtis J. Kisker, and wife Kristi, all of Platte City; his daughter Kamille Kisker-Sedlock, and husband Ray of Platte City; his brother Allen Kisker of Platte City; his sisters Esther Keseman, and husband Charles of Warrensburg, MO, Lorene Main of Higginsville, MO, and Mae Oberhelman of Platte City; and 2 grandchildren Kayla and Kole Kisker.
