Nina J. McHughes, 93, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Hillview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Platte City, MO. Nina was born August 28, 1923 in Platte City to Mark and Ethel May (Nash) Ratliff. She was a 1941 graduate of the Platte City High School. Nina married Jay G. McHughes on November 29, 1941 in Platte City. She worked as a baker for the Sunshine Biscuit Company in K.C., KS for 25 years. Nina was of the Baptist faith. She was an avid reader, Royals fan, and loved to fish. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; and her sisters Helen Philips and Velma Brubeck. Nina is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 14, 2017 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City; followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Platte City Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be given to the American Cancer Society.
