Obituary for Mary A. Nelson

Mary A. Nelson, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016, at her home in Platte City, MO. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2015 at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Platte City Congregation’s Kingdom Hall. The family suggests contributions be given to the Jehovah’s Witnesses Platte City Congregation. Mary was born January 19, 1944 in St. Louis, MO to William Wilson and Minnie Esther Lee (Tyra) Wollman. She was a 1962 graduate of the Hancock High School in St. Louis. Mary married Ronald Jay Nelson on December 28, 1968 in St. Louis; before moving to Smithville, MO, where they lived for 9 years, finally moving to Platte City. Mary spent her working life as owner/operator of Nelson’s Cleaning Service. She was a faithful member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Platte City Congregation; and spent many years as a volunteer, spreading ministry and helping others in their time of need. Mary also took an active role, working on the construction of Kingdom Halls, throughout the state of Kansas. She also enjoyed sewing, and baking. Mary was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by: her husband, Ronald of the home; her daughters Renee (Chris) Morris of Aurora, CO, and Valerie (Oscar) Vera of Platte City; and her sisters Juanita (Tom) Haithcoat of Imperial, MO, and Betty (Mike) Weirzchucki of St. Louis.
