Obituary for Dean Oliphant

Dean Oliphant, 85, of Platte City, MO passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the North Kansas City Hospice House. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City, MO; followed by an 11:00 a.m. memorial service at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions be given to NorthCare Hospice. Dean was born April 17, 1928 in Clarksville, AR to Francis Lloyd and Bonnie Esther (Price) Oliphant. He was raised in Arkansas and served his country in the U.S. Army. Dean married Rowena Wolfe on November 27, 1954 in Kansas City, KS. Over the years, he also lived in the Kansas City, KS, Gladstone, Liberty, and Hollister, MO areas, before moving to Platte City. Dean was an assembly worker for Ford Motor Co., for 30 years, and a member of the U.A.W., Local #249. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hollister, and had a great passion for hunting and fishing. Dean was preceded in death by: his parents; 3 brothers; and 1 sister. He is survived by: his wife Rowena of the home; his son Larry Dean (Lisa) Oliphant of Excelsior Springs, MO; his daughter Vickie (Steve) Porter of Platte City; his brother Tom (Sharon) Oliphant of K.C., KS; 3 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
