DONNIE PURVIS
Donnie Purvis, 81, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 22, at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City, MO; followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Platte City Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be given to NorthCare Hospice. Donnie was born September 18, 1934 in Platte City to Everett and Virginia (Trimble) Purvis. He was a 1952 graduate of the Platte City High School, where he played football and basketball. Donnie served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, serving 1957 – 1959. He married Judie Kae Stites on June 13, 1981 in Kansas City, MO. Donnie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Platte City, and spent his working life as a lineman for MoPub, REA, and PAR electric companies in the Platte County area. After his retirement, Donnie worked for the City of Platte City for several years; and was also co-owner and operator of the JuDon pub in Tracy, MO. After his final retirement, in 2002, Donnie moved to Warsaw, MO, where he enjoyed crappie fishing with his friend Frank, and spent much of his time at “Puddle Jumper”, where he made many additional friends over the last several years. Donnie was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife Judie; and 2 sisters Hazel and Sadie. He is survived by a sister Sharon, and many extended family and friends.
