Obituary for Mable Fern Woolston

Mable Fern Woolston, 84, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at her home in Excelsior Springs, MO. She was born June 28, 1933 in Platte County, MO to Clarence Hobert and Myrtle Madine (Ward) Norris. Mable married Donald “Joe” Woolston on May 10, 1952 in Texas. As a member of the Lawson Baptist Church, her faith came first, followed by her great devotion to her husband, and their family. Mable enjoyed quilting, embroidering, and cooking her much requested chicken and noodles and pies for her family. She also loved playing cards. After she and her husband, Joe, retired, they moved to the Pomme de Terre Lake area where she devoted her time in later years as a volunteer for the Wheatland Senior Center. Mable was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; 5 sisters; and 1 brother. She is survived by: her daughters Linda Copeland and Laura (Ed Pike) Odom of Georgia, and Lila (John) Romp and LaVerne Peek of Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Mary (Larry) Owens of Missouri; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. A visitation will be held 1 – 2 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston, MO; followed by a 2:00 p.m. funeral service. Interment will follow at the Sugar Creek Cemetery in Rushville, MO. The family suggests contributions be given to K.U. Cancer Research.
