Rowena “Ro” Oliphant, 86, of Platte City, MO passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 at The Gardens assisted living of Kansas City, MO. Rowena was born August 19, 1931 in Clever, MO to Dee and Shirley Wolfe. She married Francis Dean Oliphant on November 27, 1954 in Kansas City, KS. Rowena was a member of the First Baptist Church of Platte City, and later enjoyed attending services at The Gardens. She lived for many years in the Kansas City and Platte City area, and enjoyed being a homemaker. Rowena also loved working as a volunteer for Hillview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Platte City. She enjoyed reading, watching planes fly over, gardening, and going for walks. Rowena was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; and 5 siblings. She is survived by: her children Vickie (Steve) Porter of Platte City, and Larry (Trish Blankenship) Oliphant of Excelsior Springs, MO; 3 grandchildren Athena Reynolds, Joey Oliphant, and Brandis Dawn (D.J.) Meredith; and 5 great grandchildren Sydney Joe Reynolds, Ethan and Bella Oliphant, and Alyssa and Gaeten Meredith. Following cremation, visitation will be held 11:00 am – noon, Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City; followed by memorial service at noon. The family suggests contributions be given to: Kansas City Hospice or The Gardens.
