Obituary for Roy B. Jordan Jr.

Roy B. Jordan Jr., 84, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the Hillview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Platte City, MO. A visitation will be held: 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2015, at the funeral home. Interment with military honors, will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery of Kansas City, KS. The family suggests contributions be given to The Salvation Army. Roy was born May 6, 1931 in Kansas City, KS to Roy Bryant Jordan Sr. and Hattie (Garrett) Jordan. He served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Navy. Throughout his lifetime, Roy lived in Kansas City, and Edwardsville, KS, and finally Platte City, MO. He was a member of the Central Avenue Methodist Church of K.C., KS. Roy worked for many years as a police officer for the K.C., KS Police Dept.; and afterwards, worked as a security guard, retiring in 1996, from the K.C. Star. Roy had many interests, including being an outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed the fishing trip to Boundary Waters, MN that he took with his son. He loved spending time with his family, and was an accomplished artist, particularly oil painting. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife Beverly Ann (Wildermood) Jordan; a son Roy Bryant Jordan III; and his brothers James and Jerry Jordan. Roy is survived by: his sons Kirk Jordan of Shawnee, KS, and Kelley (Debra) Jordan of Platte City; and 4 grandchildren Dru, Jenna, Niklas, and Nathan Jordan.
