Obituary for Bobby Ray Kincaid

Bobby R. Kincaid of Farley, Mo passed away on November 27, 2017 surrounded by his family. Bobby was born on June 2, 1937 in Platte County, Mo. He graduated from West Platte High School where he excelled in all sports, especially track. For many years, Bobby held the school record for the mile run with a time of 4:41.9. Bobby married Beverly Ann Copeland on June 8, 1957. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. They have 3 children: Steven Kincaid of KC, Mo (Platte County), Teresa (Bill) Bing of Farley, Mo and Linda (Fred) Werren of Onaga, KS. Bobby is also survived by his 7 grandchildren: Cory, Cameron and Michael Kincaid, Erin Albach, Lauren Bing, Christina Ferguson and Sara Werren; 5 great grandchildren: Abby, Callie, Emma, Freddie and Hudson. He is also survived by his brothers: Max and Preston (Sharon) Kincaid and sister, Barbara (Danny) Honey and many nieces and nephews. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Mary Kincaid; brother, Jimmy (Ruth) Kincaid; sister Sharon Kincaid and grandson, Eric Luna. Bobby was loved by his family and he spent lots of time with all of them. After over 40 years with the Army Corp of Engineers, Bobby retired in 1998 as Branch Chief of the CAD Division. In addition to that career, he also raised tobacco which was part of the Kincaid heritage. Bobby shared his knowledge of tobacco with his children and helped them to raise their own crops. Once retired, Bobby rekindled his passion for running by competing in many U.S. Track and Field events throughout the United States with his running friend, Paul Heintzman. Through those many races, he became a nationally ranked Masters Division 5k and 10k runner and participated in the National Senior Olympics where he earned gold and silver medals. Throughout the years, he competed in over 200 races, filling his house with his trophies and medals. Bobby was also very active in the community. He was a member of the Farley Christian Church where he served many years as Chairman of the Board and an elder of the church. Bobby also served as the Mayor of Farley for several years, board member of Public Water Supply District 1. Bobby was instrumental in the development of the Southern Platte County Ambulance District and he served as a special advisor for the Levee District. Bobby was also heavily involved with the Farley Athletic Association where he coached boy’s baseball and umpired for many years during the 60s and 70s. Bobby’s quick wit, knowledge and passion for sports, and leadership in the community will be missed by family and friends. Visitation is Friday, December 1, from 5-7 p.m.at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston, MO. Funeral is December 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Vaughn’s with burial following at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Weston. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Farley Christian Church, Farley, MO.
