Augusta L. Kottman, 100, passed away March 29, 2015 at the Parkside Nursing Home in Hillsboro, KS. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 10:45 a.m., Friday, April 3, 2015 at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston, MO; followed by an 11:00 a.m. graveside service, at the Graceland Cemetery in Weston. The family suggests contributions be given to: Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Kansas City, MO. Augusta was born April 30, 1914 in Durham, KS to Edward and Katherine E. (Becker) Erion. She was raised in the Durham, KS area, where she attended the Trinity Lutheran Church. She later worked for the Coop Creamery in Hillsboro, KS from 1948, until 1954, when she moved to Kansas City, KS. She then entered the Florence Cook School of Nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center in K.C., KS; earning her Licensed Practical Nursing Certificate. Augusta was then employed at the K.U. Hospital for the next 3 years, where she specialized in the care of burn victims; and in 1976, she worked as a private duty nurse at K.U. Hospital, and other various hospitals in Missouri and Kansas. Augusta retired from nursing in 1976. She was a member of the Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Kansas City. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her first husband Harry Nuss; her second husband Elmer Kottman; her son Loren Nuss; 1 brother; and 2 sisters. Augusta is survived by: her daughter LaVonne (Kenneth) Wenrich of Atwater, CA; her daughter in law Lois Nuss of Hillsboro, KS; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 12 great, great grandchildren.
