Obituary for Roger G. Lindley

Roger G. Lindley, 71, of Weston, MO passed away January 19, 2017 at the North Kansas City Hospital, N.K.C., MO. Roger was born October 19, 1945 in King City, MO to Glenn George and Lorna Wilma (Gibson) Lindley. He served his country during the Vietnam Conflict, as a member of the U.S. Airforce. Roger married his wife Susan on June 2, 1984 in Las Vegas, NV. He was a graduate of Florida State University, earning a degree in mathematics, and minor in statistics, later spending many years as a computer programmer for the federal government. While in Weston, Roger was owner/operator of the Apple House Restaurant, and the Bunkhouse Bar & grill. He was known by his friends in the community for his stretched Suburban “Belly Mobile” used for trips to the Chief’s games; as well as the “Tummy Taxi”. In later years, Roger enjoyed riding bicycles, woodworking, and playing with his cats Fred and Will. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his brother Jim; and his sister Mary Feurt. Roger is survived by: his wife Susan of the home; his daughter Michelle Layton of Weston; his grandchildren Cierra Gross and her fiancé Jacob Laffargue of St. Joseph, MO, and Kathryn Layton of Weston; his in-laws Jack and Mary Leonovicz of Omaha, NE; his brother in law Steve Feurt; his sister in law Jill Lindley; his nieces Julie Riggs, Pam Wheeler Donna Lindley, and Lisa Stapleton. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston; followed by inurnment with military honors at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Weston. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be given to Wayside Waifs, or the American Cancer Society.
