Obituary for William A. Lutes

William Albert Lutes age 92, of St. Joseph, MO passed away March 6, 2018 at Living Community. He was born June 17, 1925 in rural Weston, MO to John Daniel Lutes and Ethel (Bainbridge) Lutes. William married his high school sweet heart, Edna Koon on February 2, 1944. They were married 74 years. They married just before he shipped out overseas to Italy during W.W. ll. He took part in the landings at Anzio and the capture of Rome. Before his service ended, he had gone the entire length of Italy and ended up in Austria. After his return he and Edna moved to a rental farm west of Dearborn, MO where they lived for several years and their three children were born there. In addition to farming, William accepted a position with Moorman Mfg. Co. to sell livestock feed which he held for 27 1/2 years. Many times, he was top salesman in the state. After a few years, they purchased their own farm, also near Dearborn, where William raised hogs and cattle, as well as keeping up his sales positions. William is a member of the Faucett Christian Church, Faucett, MO where he served the church in many capacities over the years from elder, deacon, and Sunday school teacher, to chairman of the board. He is preceded in death by: his parents; a sister Anna (Joseph) O'Herren; a brother John (Louise) Lutes; a niece Ethel Jean Lutes; a nephew Bobby Lutes; and several cousins. Survivors include: his wife Edna; children Carolyn (Larry) Hirtler, Martin (Rhonda) Lutes, David (Maria) Lutes, grandchildren Chris Hirtler, Scott (Rachel) Hirtler, Matt (Crystal) Lutes, and Rachel Ralston; great grandchildren Jessica Hirtler, Breanna Hirtler, and Kylee Ralston; and nephew John (Donna) O'Herron. A visitation will be held 5 — 7 p.m., Friday, March 9, 2018 at Vaughn-Aufranc Funeral Home in Dearborn. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 10, at the funeral home.
