Kathy Diane Nelson, 59, of Weston, MO passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Kathy was born January 22, 1958 in Arcadia, CA to Fred Simmerman and Delores “Jean” (Duncan) Bartholomew. She worked as a seamstress for Lee Jeans in St. Joseph, MO and Lebanon, MO, for over 25 years. Kathy was of the Christian faith, and loved the outdoors. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and participating in archery competitions. Kathy was a talented woodcarver, and created many wildlife carvings. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandkids; and was passionate about her cats Molly and Max. Kathy was preceded in death by: her mother; an infant son Robbie Lee Donaldson; a daughter Melissa Ann Opperman; and a grandson Robert Wayne Donaldson. She is survived by: her daughter Angie (Andy) Becker of Lancaster, KS; her sister Kim (Steve) Hall of DeKalb, MO; and her 3 granddaughters Alexis and Bobbi Becker, and Alyssa Harrison. Following cremation, a private family graveside inurnment will take place at the Sugar Creek Cemetery in Rushville, MO, at a later date. The family suggests contributions be given to: The American Lung Association or Wayside Waifs.
