Obituary for Erwin Edward Niemann

Erwin E. Niemann, 92, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Heritage of Overland Park in Overland Park, KS. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2016; followed by an 11:00 a.m. memorial service at the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Farley, MO. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Second Creek Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church. Erwin was born February 28, 1924 in East Leavenworth, MO to Edward Ernest and Marie Louise (Lutte) Niemann. He was a lifetime member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Farley, where he married Eva May Sims, February 28, 1951. He was a longtime resident of Platte County, MO, before moving to Overland Park, KS, in later years. Erwin spent his working life as a farmer, and was a skilled woodworker, and furniture maker. He was an avid Royals fan, and loved spending time with his family, especially playing cards. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Harold Niemann. Erwin is survived by: his wife, Eva May of the home; his daughters Jean (Stephen) Gordon of Leawood, KS, and Mary Lynn (Denny) Arnold of Normal, IL; 5 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
