Obituary for Kay Jean Pierpoint

Kay Jean Pierpoint, the daughter of Billy and Colene (Boswell) Noel, was born November 8, 1938, in Oregon, Missouri. Kay Jean graduated from the Oregon Public School in 1956 and Northwest Missouri State College in 1960. She later earned her Masters of Art Degree in Library Science. Later that year, she was united in marriage to Donald Pierpoint of Maryville, Mo. They are the parents of two children, Robin and Stacy. Kay Jean was an educator and librarian for over 35 years at various schools before retiring from the Platte City school system in 2006. She loved working with people of all ages, especially the young. She loved to travel, spend time with family, and served her church, community and friends. (Everyone loved her apple pies). Surrounded by her loving children and siblings, she peacefully entered into Heaven from her home in Platte City, on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at the age of 77 years. Survivors include: her daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Don Welch, San Diego, California; her son and daughter-in-law, Stacy and Cynthia Pierpoint, Cloudcroft, New Mexico; Sister, Nancy Sipes, and brother-in-law, Larry, Hamilton, Illinois; Brother, Phil Noel, and sister-in-law Nannette, Oregon, Missouri; Sister, Linda Adams, and brother-in-law Kenneth, Okmulgee, Oklahoma; Sister, Sherry Parker, Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Savannah and Daniel Welch, and Amber Young and April Sheffield; along with three great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents, Billy and Colene Noel; brother-in-law Randy Parker, and nephew, Kerry Sipes. Kay Jean was an active member of the United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the United Methodist Church of Platte City; immediately followed by a luncheon and visitation. The family suggests contributions be given to: St. Luke’s Hospice, or to the Platte City United Methodist Church Missions Library.
