Obituary for Mary Lou West

Mary Lou West, 87, of Weston, MO passed away at the Hillview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Platte City, MO Monday, February 26, 2018. Mary was born May 1, 1930 in Marshall Township, MO to E. Bley and Evelyn (Patton) Fee. She married Jesse Earl West on May 1, 1950 in Weston. Mary was a homemaker and tobacco farmer’s wife, greatly appreciated for her cooking. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, embroidering, and her cats. Once her children were of age, Mary went to work as a school bus driver for the West Platte and Lakeview school districts; a job she held for over twenty years. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; 2 brothers Donald and Joe; and 2 sisters Lenora and Janice. Mary is survived by: her children Jessica Mann of Memphis, TN, Robin (Dick) Davenport of Lee’s Summit, MO, Diane West of Weston, Richard (Janie) West of Weston, and Karen (Brian) Smith of K.C., KS; her grandchildren Solomon West, Jesse West, Alex Davenport, Joshua West, Chelsea Smith, and Drew Smith; 1 brother George Fee of Weston; 3 sisters Betty Reavis, Joyce Bramble, and Judy Peterson all of K.C., MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. A visitation will be held 5 – 7 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 2, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Weston. Memorial contributions can be given to Boy Scout Troop #249 of Weston or to Good Shepherd Hospice. Mary’s family would like to extend their thanks to the staffs of Hillview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Good Shepherd Hospice.
