Marilea Gerner, 97, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on July 23, 2020. She was born to Martha Eskridge and Thomas Hevalow on December 28, 1922. Marilea grew up in Weston, MO. After graduating high school, she attended secretarial school. She married G. Loyd Gerner, also from Weston, on May 12, 1945, in Wilmington, NC, while Loyd was on leave from the Army Air Corp. After the war, Marilea and Loyd farmed in the Weston area before moving to Omaha, NE in the early 1950s where Loyd began his career in business. While in Omaha, they started a family, Kevin and Kathy. Over the years, Marilea and Loyd lived in Indianapolis, IN; West Plains, Butler, and Columbia, MO; and Overland Park, KS. One of her joys was moving into a house and turning it into a home. During their 58-year marriage, they lived in 20 houses. Marilea is survived by her two adult children, 5 adult grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. A graveside service for Marilea will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 11 am at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Weston, MO.
