Obituary for Patrick O'Malley

Patrick O’Malley 87, of Weston, MO passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in K.C., MO. Pat was born November 23, 1933 in St. Joseph, MO to Francis Pascal and Thelma Maxine (Shafer) O’Malley. He was a graduate of Rockhurst High School in K.C., MO, and Warrensburg State College; later earning his Law Degree from UMKC School of Law. Pat married Barbara Marie Tucker on December 26, 1959 at the Visitation Church in K.C., MO. He worked in investments and insurance in K.C. before moving to Weston in 1972; where he and Barbara opened America Bowman Keeping Room restaurant in 1977; later adding O’Malley’s Pub in 1988. Pat retired in 2005; but in his tradition of always staying busy, he helped his children open Tin Kitchen restaurant in Weston in 2014. Pat was a devoted member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Weston for over 50 years. Pat enjoyed travelling with Barbara, particularly enjoying the eastern U.S., and Ireland. He enjoyed studying local history and family genealogy; and loved to spend time with his grandson and family. He was a great cook, and enjoyed cooking for his family. He was also an accomplished woodworker and built many of the furnishings for his home and restaurant. Pat was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara; his brother Donald; and his sister Maureen O’Malley. He is survived by his daughters Kathleen O’Malley of Weston, and Barbara (Daniel) Federico of League City, TX; his son Sean (Cathi) O’Malley of Weston; his grandson Quinn; his sister Mary (Ed) Kaminsky; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. A visitation will be held 9:30 – 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 22 with a Rosary at 11:00 a.m.; followed by an 11:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Weston. Interment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery in Weston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church or to the Weston Chamber of Commerce.
