Obituary

Eula Gaynell “Gay” Edlin, 88, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021, at The Village of Cameron, Cameron, MO. Gaynell was born November 24, 1932 in Lumberton, Mississippi to Lorenzo and Annie Florence (Sweeney) Ladner. She was raised in Lumberton and was a graduate of the Lumberton High School where she was a cheerleader and played basketball. Gaynell was of the Baptist Faith. On June 24, 1954 Gaynell married Walter Christopher “Jack” Edlin, in Kansas City, Missouri, where they lived. Gaynell spent parts of her career as a real estate agent for RE/MAX of Kansas City, as well as a cashier for the Platte Woods Pharmacy, and a bookkeeper for Cox's Gulf service station. As hobbies, in her early years, Gaynell enjoyed bowling and playing cards. Later she enjoyed playing (and winning) at bingo as well as the slot machines at the local casino. She loved her family and attended many of her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jack; and all of her siblings. She is survived by 2 daughters: Sheree Sanstra, and Pam (Mike) Walser; 4 grandchildren: Chris Best, Mike (Amy) Best, Whitney (Jeremy) Wilson, and Jason Everett; 3 great grandchildren: T.J., Parker, and Hope Best; and numerous extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City, MO; with a visitation 1 hour prior. Interment will follow at the Platte City Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be given to the American Diabetes Association. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at The Village of Cameron for all of their thoughtful care.
