Carol Dean Barnes, 73, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021 at the St. Luke’s Northland Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Carol was born April 26, 1948 in Kansas City, MO to Ernest Franklin and Florence Blanch (Robert) Jones. She was raised in Platte City, MO and was a graduate of the Platte City High School, and attended Missouri Western State College. Carol married Stanley Lee Barnes on April 28, 1967. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Berean Free Will Baptist Church in Independence, MO. Carol enjoyed square dancing and listening to live jazz music. Her passion was to her family and she loved raising her girls. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Mary Jones. She is survived by her former husband Stanley; her children Mary Barnes of St. Joseph, and Stacey Satterwhite of Brookfield, MO; her grandchildren Samantha and Lisa Satterwhite, Jeremy Hicks, Joe Barnes, and Christopher Hicks; her great grandchildren Madelyn, Bella, Autumn, and Anthony Hicks; her siblings Kathie Allen of Edgerton, MO, Blanche Atkins of Excelsior Springs, MO, Ernest (Doris) Jones, Jr. of Arkansas, Jeanette Bongino of Platte City, Sharon (Trent) Tracy of St. Joseph, and John (Patricia) Jones of Platte City; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 18, 2021 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City; followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO. Memorial contributions can be given to the charity of one’s choice.
