Obituary for Roy L. Stark

Roy L. Stark, 71, of Platte City, MO passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 at North K.C. Hospital. Roy was born November 12, 1949 in Independence, MO to LeRoy Edwin and Doris Geneva (Hawkins) Stark. He was a 1968 graduate of Fort Osage High School and spent most of his working life as a machinist and boilermaker for TWA and American Airlines in K.C., MO. Roy proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Brinkley Bass during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Lisa Kay Phillips on September 8, 2007 in Kearney, MO. Roy enjoyed riding his Harley and racing homing pigeons. He loved going to the casinos and was especially fond of the time he spent with his kids and grandkids. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Ginger Schanuth, brother Ronnie Stark; and sister Clara Ross. He is survived by his wife Lisa; children Tammy (Timothy) Thompson of K.C., MO, Jody (Nolan) Romaker of Camden Point, MO, Randy (Erin) Stark of K.C., MO, Danny (Miranda) Stark of K.C., MO, Tabatha White of Lathrop, MO, and Glenda (Matt) Day of Kearney; grandchildren Blake, Madison, Bailee, Nathan, Matthew, Wyatt, Carson, Jozie, Abriella, Dexton, and David; sister Doris (Frank) Vigliaturo of Independence, MO; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 7, 2021; followed by an 11:00 funeral service at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City. Interment with military honors will follow at the Camden Point Cemetery in Camden Point, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be given to the Camden Point Cemetery Association.
