Obituary for Kenneth L. Duffin

Kenneth L. Duffin, 100, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2020, at his home in Platte City, MO. Kenneth was born October 26, 1921, in Milford, Utah to LaRue Bernard and Juie Vilate (Riding) Duffin. He was raised in Oakland, California and was a 1939 graduate of the Castlemont High School. He then attended College of Pacific in Stockton, CA. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II; and served as an airplane electrical mechanic in North Africa and Europe. After his military service, he married Patricia Glynn Keegan on January 12, 1946, in Alameda, CA. Kenneth attended the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, CA; and worked as a freelance artist in San Francisco, CA; before becoming an architectural renderer in the Seattle, Washington area. He enjoyed painting a variety of subjects and created many hundreds of paintings which he either sold or gave to family members who adore them. His works won many awards and prizes. He was a member and past President of the San Francisco Society of Illustrators and the Puget Sound Group of Painters. In his last years, Kenneth was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Glynn; and a son Matthew LaRue Duffin. Kenneth is survived by his daughter Leslie Johnson; his son Bret Duffin; 13 grandchildren; and 44 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Platte City; followed by a 12:00 noon funeral service. Interment, with military honors will take place 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas. Memorial contributions can be given in Kenneth’s honor to Heart to Heart International to aid the victims in Ukraine.
