Obituary for Charles L. Geiger Jr.

Charles L Geiger Jr was born 12/10/1946, in Waldron, Arkansas and passed away 05/16/22, in Kansas City, MO at the age of 75. Charlie was born to Charles L Geiger Sr and Theda Imogene “Gene” (Garner) Geiger. He was an only child and moved to Wichita, Kansas when he was an infant. He graduated from South High School in 1964. He started college at Wichita State University. It would take him a couple of attempts before he completed his bachelor's degree in Geology. He married his college sweetheart September 7, 1968. Charlie and Marilyn had two children during their 11-year marriage, Christopher L Geiger, and Anne E Geiger. On January 22, 1983, he married Eva L Peak. They were married 32 years and had two children, Gordon L Geiger, and Brandon R Geiger. Charlie served in the Army National Guard for over 21 years and in the Army Reserve for 2 years. He retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1993. He retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation, where he put his geology knowledge to beneficial use, in 2013. Charlie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Platte City, MO for many years. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of religion. He was preceded in death by both parents. He is survived by his children, Chris L Geiger of Wichita, KS, Anne E Alvord (Don) of Halstead, KS, Gordon L Geiger of Evergreen, CO, and Brandon R Geiger (Courtney) of Kansas City, MO. Also, his five grandchildren, Jeremy T Manning (Jennifer) of Wichita, KS, Joshua R Manning of Halstead, KS, Jessica L Walker (Brandon) of McPherson, KS, David A James of Park City, KS and Hadassah L Geiger of Kansas City, MO.In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to Avant Ministries, 10000 N Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64155. A memorial service is being held at First Baptist Church, 17385 Hwy 371, Platte City MO 64079 on Saturday, May 21st. Visitation, with the family, is from 10am to 11am and the service will start at 11am.
