Tom Gonterwitz, 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Platte City, MO after a swift battle with cancer. Tom was born December 20, 1954, in Leavenworth, KS to Thomas John Gonterwitz Sr. and Agnes (Schmania) Gonterwitz. Tom married Ruth Renz on September 1, 1990, at the First Christian Church of Platte City. Tom and Ruth loved boating on Lake of the Ozarks for over 20 years; taking road trips to enjoy nature; and raising many beloved pets. In addition to Tom’s career as an industrial salesman in the commercial construction/concrete industry, he enjoyed being a ski instructor at Snow Creek in Weston, MO; and was a member of the Professional Ski Instructor’s Association. Tom is survived by his wife of 31 years, Ruth Renz Gonterwitz; his sister Julie (Jay) Peters of Lenexa, KS; niece Jennifer (Pat) Gibbs & their children Brynn and Colin; niece Rachel Renz & children Gage Monteil & Easton Kohrs; and niece Kim (Cody) Shaw & children Ella and Charlie. Tom also leaves behind many dear friends, relatives, former coworkers, and clients whom he valued beyond words. Per Tom’s request, there will be no memorial services.
