Obituary for Robert Francis Fulk

Robert Francis Fulk of Platte City, Mo passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2022 at the age of 94 years old. He was born on December 9, 1927 to Daisy Olvis Fulk and Alva Marcus Fulk of Beverly, MO. Robert grew up on the family farm, the third of four boys, Howard, Loren and Donald who all preceded him in death. He attended the one room schoolhouse in Beverly until 8th grade when he moved to Weston High School and graduated with the class of 1945. He was drafted for military service and had taken his physical when the war ended and he was no longer needed to serve. After meeting his future wife at high school, Robert married Earlene Marie McCalley on August 15, 1948. The first year of their marriage they lived in a house in Beverly. For the rest of their married life, they lived on the farm originally owned by Robert’s grandparents just east of Beverly. This is a spot that a lot of people now recognize as Fulk’s Tree Farm. Robert retired after many years of farming. He started working on the family farm with his father and passed that tradition along by being a mentor to his son, Dennis who passed it along to his son Brian. With Robert’s common sense, honesty and love of his family, he was able to make his family farm a success even through the tough times. Robert was a member of the Weston United Methodist Church, Weston Lions Club, was a 4-H leader, and served on the board and as President of the Farley-Beverly Drainage District. Beside his parents, brothers and their wives, Robert was preceded in his death by his granddaughter Abby Cockrill. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Earlene, his three children, Dennis (Barb Fulk), Debbie (Stephen Hay) and Diana (Pat Cockrill), his grandchildren Brian, Mark, John, Lynn, Elizabeth and Emily and his great grandchildren.
