Paul Anthony “Tony” Yanits passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Mosaic Life Care Center in St. Joseph, MO. Tony was born May 27, 1953, in Latrobe, PA to Stanley Stephen Yanits Sr. and Betty Louise (Waldron) Yanits. He worked as a cook for the Torrance State Hospital. Tony was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Derry Branch; and a social member of the V.F.W. in Derry, PA. He loved playing cards, working various types of puzzles, and bowling. Also, Tony enjoyed watching game shows and answering the questions faster than the contestants. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Mark Anthony Yanits; a brother Stanley “Buddy” Yanits Jr.; and a sister Diane M. Bialas. Tony is survived by his son Matt Yanits; brother Larry A. Yanits; sister Darlene Smail; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Following cremation, a visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City, MO; followed by an 11:00 a.m. memorial service. Contributions can be given to the American Cancer Society.
