Obituary for Carl Phillips

Carl Phillips was born on February 8th 1980, in Kansas City, MO to his expecting mother Carol Phillips.

Even from high school Carl was loved by all, he graduated high school and with determination he joined the United States Navy Seabees. He served our country faithfully and with pride. Like any Seabee in active duty with the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133, Carl was able to travel to so many different beautiful places; while he served our country, he visited Hawaii and even Okinawa, Japan.

Carl being one of the recruits with the most potential he was also deployed several times to Iraq and Afghanistan.

In September of 2016 Carl was officially promoted to Chief Petty Officer of the Navy because of his valiant work ethic he was able to retire not long after in 2019. He retired the Navy with many military awards and honors.

Continuing his pursuit for greatness he then took a position at Federal Bureau of Prisons. Starting as a simple foreman but quickly advancing to a lead position of supervisor he continued to keep our country safe in a different way.

Those that knew Carl very well, knew that he was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan and he never missed watching a game or rooting for the Chiefs. His warmth and smile always filled a room. Carl was an outdoorsman and understood what hard work rewarded him with

He enjoyed creating with his hands and he enjoyed going on hikes, kayaking, exploring new places. He prided himself in his love for cooking. He made the best HASHBROWNS!

Carl was quick to come to the aid of anyone who needed him. He always took time to help his family and friends. He was truly the LIFE at every family gathering! He would sing at the top of his lungs with what he thought was the BEST voice ever accompanied by the best dance moves ever created. Carl was nicknamed "Carlos Jose Felipe" by his wife Reyza C Phillips he was determined to learn Spanish with the help of his wife Reyza he earned that name and wore it proudly!

Carl is survived by his wife Reyza C. Phillips, Son Corbin, Son Maximus, Daughter Lizabel, Daughter Amaris, Son Jahziel, Mother Carol, Sister Natalie, Sister Jo Mae, Brother Albert, Pets Boots and Orion, along with countless loving family and friends.

Visitation for the celebration of the life of Carl will be held at 4:00 p.m - 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston, accompanying will be Carl's wife and family whom will be available throughout the afternoon.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
