Obituary for Rusty Dewey Berry

Rusty Dewey Berry, 64, passed away at his home in Weston Monday, April 3, 2023. Rusty was born July 30, 1958 in Denver, CO, and was a lifelong resident of Weston. He was a 1976 graduate of the West Platte R-II High School; and later married his high school sweetheart and mother of his children, Karel, on June 19, 1977. Rusty began working for Hay’s Plumbing of Atchison, KS; later working for the new Iatan Powerplant, before becoming an Apprentice for J.E. Dunn Construction. Afterwards, Rusty worked as a car salesman for Rusty Eck Ford in Leavenworth, KS; finally working for J.E. Dunn Construction as a concrete foundation former, & member of the Labor Union #264; until retiring around 1994. Rusty was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, boating, hunting and fishing. He loved sailing and was a member of the San Diego Yacht Club. He also enjoyed water skiing and riding motorcycles; and was especially fond of his family & friend’s annual boating and camping trips to Clinton Lake. Rusty was a member of the Salem Christian Church of Weston. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence Owen “Bill” and Una Fern (Peel) Berry; his brother Robbie; and sisters Rhonda Calvert, and Gillian Berry. Rusty is survived by his children Jamie Lancaster, Janis Zoellers, and Jody (Emily) Berry; his grandchildren Brianna and Jillian Lancaster, Thomas Zoellers, and Theodore Berry; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 7, 2023 at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston; followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service. Interment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery in Weston. Memorial contributions can be given to the Salem Christian Church of Weston.
