J. Alvin Foutes, 90, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015 at Garden Valley Manor of Kansas City, MO. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2015 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City, MO; followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service, at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at the Platte City Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be given to the charity of one’s choice. Alvin was born August 3, 1925 in Frankford, MO to Joseph Andrew and Marie (Campbell) Foutes. He was raised in Frankford, and was a graduate of the Frankford High School. Alvin served his country during World War II, as a radioman in the U.S. Navy. He attended Culver Stockton, Kansas University, and Kirksville College, earning his Masters of Education. Alvin began his career as an educator in 1953, in De Soto, KS; later moving to the Park Hill School District, where he served for 35 years, before retiring in 1988. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Kansas City. Alvin enjoyed gardening, and was an avid fisherman. Alvin was preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife Mildred Bogue Foutes; a brother Donald Foutes; and a sister Maurine Tripkos. Alvin is survived by: his wife Thelma Foutes of the home; his son Wayne (Peggy) Foutes of Parkville, MO; a brother Charles (Amy) Foutes of Bowling Green, MO; a sister Shirley Love of Frankford, MO; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
