Doris M. (Kyle) Browning, 83 passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at her home in Platte City, MO. Doris was born February 19, 1937 in Vernon, TX to William Berry and Ettie Ethel (Hopkins) Kyle. She married Charles William Browning on February 1, 1953 in Wichita Falls, TX; and travelled extensively across the U.S. as a career military housewife, before settling in Centerview, MO in 1967. She lived in the Kansas City area for several years before moving to Tulsa, OK where she retired and moved back to Savannah, MO. Doris was a graduate of Warrensburg School of Cosmetology was owner/operator of Toussle’s Beauty Salon in Warrensburg, MO. She worked as Educational Consultant for Redken in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa; and Educational Director for George H. Wyers in Kansas City, MO. Doris also served as Director of Education for the State Beauty Supply Service Center in Tulsa, OK; finishing her career as Education Director for her son’s business: State Beauty Supply in St. Joseph, MO. As a result of her long and dedicated career as a hair stylist and educator, Doris was the recipient of numerous awards. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Platte City and loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 6 brothers; and 2 sisters. She is survived by children Sandy Patterson of Morris, OK, Chuck (Shelle) Browning of Platte City; grandchildren Kyle (Robin) Patterson of OK, Jayme Lavery of MO, Clay (Ashley) Patterson of MN, Trenton Browning of MO, and Rebecca Browning of MO; great grandchildren Allison Patterson, Kale Browning, Jada Browning, Madison Lavery, Taylore Lavery, Eli Patterson, and Jake Patterson; sisters Wanda (Don) Beck of Sacramento, CA and Lynda Terry of Ilk Grove, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Following a private interment in the Leavenworth National Cemetery there will be a 2:30 p.m. memorial service at the First Baptist Church of Platte City—17385 Hwy. 371—Platte City, MO 64079.
